Organizations are increasingly relying on third-parties to achieve their strategic objectives. Data previously stored internally by organizations may now be managed and stored by their third party vendors. Regulators, shareholders, and even employees expect organizations to manage and reduce the risks related to such third party relationships. This presentation will provide an overview of the third party risk management process, with a focus on the data-related risks and strategies to mitigate those risks.

Bio: Sofia Empel, PhD, CRM, IGP, is the Sr. Director, Information Governance at a U.S.-based healthcare data analytics company. As the company’s information governance subject matter expert, she participated in creating the company’s enterprise-wide third-party risk management program from the ground up and continues to contribute to its ongoing improvement. She frequently teaches, writes, and speaks on information governance and records management topics.
